Provincial Nominee Programs
The provincial nominee program is for individuals who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to a specific province or territory. Each province and territory has its own provincial nominee programs aimed at their specific economic and demographic needs.

There are more than 80 provincial nominee streams depending on what types of contributions the candidate can bring to the province or territory they are applying for. Because each province and territory has different needs, specific programs may be open or closed at various times of the year and for different amounts of times.
Express Entry PNP
Various provinces and territories have provincial nominee streams that require you to apply through the Express Entry system. If you are nominated through Express Entry, this will be identified in your nomination certificate. There are two ways in which this is done:

1. You contact the province or territory and apply for nomination under their Express Entry stream
-
if the province/territory agrees to nominate you, you would create an Express Entry profile, showing that you have been nominated
-
you will get a nomination through your account and then you would accept it electronically

2. You create an Express Entry profile, showing the provinces/territories you are interested in
-
if the province/territory sends you a notification of interest, you would contact them directly
-
if you are nominated, the offer will be sent to your account and you will accept it electronically

When you accept your nomination, you will be able to claim an additional 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System, which will assist you with obtaining an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
If you receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence after you have accepted your nomination, you will have 90 days to submit your application for permanent residence.

Non-express entry PNP
Non-express entry provincial nominee programs are paper-based applications. There are 2 stages to the application process for these programs.

-
You will first need to decide which province or territory you wish to reside it and apply to them directly for a nomination.
-
Once your province or territory of choice nominates you, you will have to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.

As each province and territory has their own entry requirements, you will need to meet those requirements and be nominated. You also have to show that you will be residing in that province or territory.
